Cover. The second Gay Pride parade in Madureira, a neighborhood on the outskirts of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The parade was organized by a well-known transgender activist in the area as a response to increasing violence and discrimination against gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people in the neighborhood. The parade initiated a campaign focused on the theme Aceite a Diversidade (Accept Diversity), in keeping with the principles of human rights, citizenship, and solidarity that characterize contemporary Brazilian politics.
