About the Cover

Cover Figure Cover. A young girl in the neighborhood of Cite-Soleil has her bucket filled with water in Port-au-Prince, Haiti on Saturday, April 20, 1996. This water facility, which had been in operation for five years at the time this photograph was taken, provided over 150,000 gallons (or 30,000 buckets of water) per day to the residents of this neighborhood for cooking and cleaning, thus helping to reduce the occurrence of diseases, such as cholera, that are common in slum areas. Cover concept and selection by Aleisha Kropf, Robert Sember, and Cesar Victora.
