ERRATUM In: Zavodny M. Fertility and parental consent for minors to receive contraceptives. Am J Public Health. 2004;94:1347–1351.

Some incorrect numbers for the change in pregnancies (births and abortions) were presented in Tables 1Go and 2Go. The correct results for the affected rows are shown below. In addition, other results for combined births and abortions were reported incorrectly in the text on pages 1350–1351. When 1996–1997 was used as the before period, the relative decline in births to women younger than 19 years for births was 0.36 percentage points (SE=0.34, P=.29); the relative change in pregnancies was 0.34 percentage points (SE=0.44, P=.43). Pregnancies to women younger than 20 years as a proportion of all pregnancies to women younger than 25 years rose by 1.83 percentage points (SE=1.56, P=.24). Although the significance of the combined births and abortions difference-in-differences is lower than reported in the original paper, the corrected results indicate a significant relative increase in births to young women in McHenry County and also suggest that a parental consent requirement led to an increase in teen pregnancies. (A thorough review of the data by David Paton of the University of Nottingham uncovered these errors.)
